The labels are not where the places are

aligns north by itself from the phone compass and, when it can, by matching the skyline in the camera to the terrain (Menu → Skyline → Automatic alignment). If the compass needs it, a short guide asks you to move the phone in a figure 8. You can also set it by hand: tap Align on the camera view (with Clean view on, Menu → Skyline → Align by hand), then turn the phone until the labels sit on their places and tap. Keep the phone away from metal and magnets, and try outdoors.

How do I use without a connection?

Download an area ahead of time: Menu → Data sources → Offline areas. Choose a place and a radius; the places and the terrain are stored on the phone. also keeps the areas around you automatically for a while.

Why does a place have no label?
  • Labels never overlap: where two would, the less important place is left out.
  • Places behind terrain are not labelled by default. Turn on Menu → Labels → Places behind terrain to see them dimmed.
  • Its category may be switched off: Menu → Labels → Categories.
  • It may be too far: the Distance setting limits how far labels reach.
  • It may not be in OpenStreetMap yet.
